How to use the calculator
STEP 1: Type in the total number of months you have worked in Germany.
STEP 2: Adjust the slider to add your monthly gross salary.
STEP 3: The calculator will show you the estimate amount of your German pension refund based on the contribution rate 24 months ago.
STEP 4: Fill in your email address and click on ”Send Results” to get your result sent to you.
Your actual refund amount can be higher than the estimate depending when you have worked in Germany. The calculator uses the employee contribution rate that was valid 24 months ago of 9.3%. Before 2018 the contribution amount was slightly higher and it changed over the years. The average percentage from 1997 until today is 9.6%.
Your result can also be influenced by different gross salaries you might have earned over time due to raises or switching jobs and employers. If that is the case, we recommend you to calculate each salary separately and add the results or to use your average salary.
You can calculate your average salary with this formula: (salary 1 * number of months + salary 2 * number of months + ... + ...) / total number of months worked = average salary
